How to Design a Circular Island Bar and Back Bar

As for the menu, expect beer, themed cocktails and bar bites such as quesadillas, tots and chicken fingers, which were one of Greedo's favorite snacks, as any real Star Wars fan knows. Natural light and pastel hues steal the show at Tulsa’s Vintage Wine Bar. This restaurant bar design has a soft, sleek feel while providing a spacious area for guests to enjoy the extensive wine list. Snacks like house cut fries and fried chicken will satisfy any craving. The energetic vibe is palpable at Sputnik Bar thanks to the venue’s retro-space restaurant bar design.

B. Types of Home Bars

Long basement family room wet bar with lots of cabinetry with white countertop. Here’s a totally glammed-out home bar and lounge with purple tufted walls, fuschia and chrome stools, bring pink window wall, black floor and one super wild zebra sofa. A large bar may include the eat-in counter with accompanying barstools, as seen above, but a smaller bar nearer to a seating area may forgo this obstruction in favor of a sleeker look. We carry a wide range of cast aluminum fire pits and also custom design fire pits and tables to fit your style and backyard area. We have a huge 10,000 sq ft showroom located in Ontario, California.

Outdoor Bars

You’ll find literature-inspired cocktails on the menu at this downtown Calgary bar. Expertly-prepared food and drinks aren’t the only thing this bar serves up, though. Guests can also take home curated cocktail boxes, glassware, and bar tools like shaker sets and strainers. A stocked bar means you are ready to receive for guests whenever they are in your home.

The Californication of America’s Restaurants

Dinner is prix fixe and includes an appetizer (like the Corprese Bride salad), a main course (maybe the Linguini Todd or Edward Burger Hands) and a dessert. Katherine is the Content Marketing Manager at TouchBistro, where she writes about trending topics in food and restaurants. The opposite of a picky eater, she’ll try (almost) anything at least once. Whether it’s chowing down on camel burgers in Morocco or snacking on octopus dumplings in Japan, she’s always up for new food experiences. If your bar doesn’t have variety, it’s unlikely that customers will come back and recommend you to friends and family.

Two Bit Circus is a micro-amusement park with dozens of arcade and midway games, escape rooms, virtual reality experiences and a high-tech theater equipped for trivia, wine tasting and puzzle games. The main bar is located beneath a red-and-yellow striped circus tent while a robot tends a second, smaller bar. The menu consists of "elevated" carnival food, which includes corn dogs, sliders, flatbreads and tots.

According to architectural standards, the ideal height ranges from 42″ – 45″. In Los Angeles, land of programmatic architecture, the theme bar is alive and well, whether it mimics a specific TV show or pays homage to an era. Our favorites include a Star Wars-themed pub, a throwback 1980s nightclub, an homage to Titanic (the movie not the ship) and a steampunk speakeasy. At the same time, the restaurant Sunday in Brooklyn looks more typical of Santa Monica than its own New York borough. Restaurant owners are drawn to the aesthetic because it seems easy and cheap. “You’ve got wipeable surfaces, sturdy ceramic dinner plates, succulents on the table that don’t require a lot,” says design historian Maile Pingel.

The city and the state are poised to establish a new, lasting legacy as one of America’s culinary destinations. California-style restaurants can help or hurt that effort, not only in the ways they represent California in their food, but by how they present it in their dining rooms. Soon the trend spread beyond the state’s borders and across the internet. Pastel tableware mirrors sun-bleached SoCal but also acts as a neutral backdrop for Instagram food pics. Exposed rafters evoke Malibu ranch homes but could just as easily reference other trendy getaways, like a Tuscan villa or South African winery. Much of the creative energy, Pearlman says, came from Venice, where architects like Frank Gehry, Thom Mayne, and Michele Saee inspired collaboration among architects, artists, and restaurants.

The Best Restaurant Barback Design

Born from the need to keep liquor hidden during Prohibition in the 1920s, cabinets were made specifically to store alcohol and barware behind lock and key. Today, liquor cabinets are available in many sizes, styles, wood tones, and colors. There are many options for home bars and the decision about which one to choose will usually come down to how much space there is for a bar and the cost. Even if you live in a small apartment, you can have a stocked bar, but it will be smaller than those in large homes. If you have a room specifically for entertaining guests, such as the basement or outdoor space, then the bar should be in that area.

Simple-to-use controllers make it possible for you to adjust the mood of your bar in an instant. The primary purpose of the back bar is to showcase bottles, so lighting is a must. You’ll want to make sure that the bottles are in clear view so guests can see the labels as they pick which cocktail to order. If you’re going to use bar décor, it’s best to keep it simple and minimal, as the bar area will already have plenty to take in. Whether you plan to hang a classic neon sign or you want to get creative, signage is a popular backbar idea for bars and restaurants. From custom chalkboards for menus and drink specials to a custom piece with the restaurant logo, signage gives a backbar a personal touch.

Today we’re going to review all these systems and components necessary to plan a commercial bar design. It was once part of a chain of themed restaurants and this outpost is the last survivor. Artfully and meticulously renovated by owner Andrew Meieran (who also owns The Edison), the space is filled with charming installations and detailed touches that demand thorough exploration.

To make things even easier on you, we’ve compiled our favorite ideas for creating a professional and functional backbar setup that will wow patrons. Read on to learn more about our top backbar ideas for bars and restaurants. Then the third section will be a shelving unit for displaying the glasses, goblets, and the choices of alcohol for making drinks. By having a custom back bar built, you can add a wine refrigerator beneath the straight bar to keep wines chilled and ready to serve. The shelving/cabinet unit may also have shelves for displaying the barware and alcohol, so guests will know what drinks you have to offer. For back bars with three sections, the middle one may have space to display a painting, put in a TV, or hang a mirror.

In Inside the California Food Revolution, chef Joyce Goldstein further argues LA designers were more creative than their peers in San Francisco because they didn’t feel beholden to legacy restaurants. These homes would inspire generations of the city’s designers, influencing both residential and commercial projects. Sticking with the library theme is the Bluebird Cocktail Room in Baltimore.

When planning a bar area, consider including appliances for mixing drinks and keeping wine or beer chilled. So, you might need a blender if you want to make frozen drinks or to crush ice, and a refrigerator for chilling wine and beer. A folding bar is a good option for an apartment or small home where there isn’t a separate entertainment area. It could be placed in the living or dining room as most of them look like regular pieces of furniture. Then, when you’re entertaining, you can unfold the bar and serve drinks to your guests.

“I Sing of a Maiden” illuminates Adams’s thoughtful design of layering voices as a tapestry in response to the orchestra’s textures and colors. Already there was a profound artistic aesthetic that without the immaculate set design and lighting, which will be highlighted later in this review, one could not tear their eyes and ears away from the music’s development. Musically there’s a lot of subtle beauty that’s built out of atmosphere, different moods and colors.

The Submarine Tour

The second tier of privately held boxes (the "grand tier") was converted into standard row seating. This enlarged the seating capacity and left only the first tier of boxes from the "golden horseshoe" of the opera house's origins as a showplace for New York society. In 1903, architects Carrère and Hastings extensively redesigned the interior of the opera house. The golden auditorium with its sunburst chandelier, and curved proscenium inscribed with the names of six composers (Gluck, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Gounod and Verdi), dated from this time. The first of the Met's signature gold damask stage curtains was installed in 1906, completing the look that the Old Metropolitan Opera House maintained until its closing.

Met Opera on Demand (formerly called Met Player), a subscription-based online streaming service available at metoperaondemand.org, was launched in November 2008. It offers more than 550 Met performances, including Live in HD productions, classic telecasts, and archival broadcast recordings, for high-quality viewing and listening on any computer or iPad. The Met also provides free live audio streaming of performances on its website once every week during the opera season. Soprano Asmik Grigorian, a superstar in the opera houses of Europe, brings her celebrated portrayal of the title role to the Met for her long-awaited company debut.

What makes “Family Guy” good is that it’s silly, crass, satirical and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I never mind when it’s on because I know something in an episode will make me laugh. But what makes it great is its range, from zany musical numbers like “A Bag of Weed” to thoughtful explorations of its characters — the Season 8 bottle episode “Brian & Stewie” comes to mind. Reviews of the San Francisco premiere had been mixed; the opera’s sheer length and its discursiveness, which blurred the sense of narrative, were both criticised, but Adams’s cuts and revisions seem to have done a great deal to tighten the dramatic focus. Everything is observed by “Dame Shirley”, the pen name of Louise Clappe, a doctor’s wife from Massachusetts who spent 18 months in the California mining camps and brought that world vividly and wittily to life in her letters home. He is best known for his operas, including Amistad, Wakonda’s Dream, and The Central Park Five, the last earning him the Pulitzer Prize in Music. The composer’s brother Christopher Davis (b. 1953) crafted the story for the opera, while their cousin, the poet, author, and journalist Thulani Davis (b. 1949), wrote the libretto. Please note that video cameras will be in operation during the November 14 and November 18 performances as part of the Met’s Live in HD series of cinema transmissions. Most operas have at least one intermission—use that time to grab a glass of champagne or a quick bite (view food and drink options) and explore the opera house. Visit the Grand Tier level to see Marc Chagall’s famous murals hanging on either side of the house, then take in the view of Lincoln Center Plaza from the balcony.

There are two guitars in the center of everything, two samplers, and keyboards. There’s also a huge orchestra backing it up, so it goes back and forth,” said conductor Marin Alsop. Officially, it’s the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit, a black-tie extravaganza held the first Monday in May to raise money for the museum’s fashion wing, the only curatorial department at the Met that has to pay for itself. The Metropolitan Opera House, also known as the Old Metropolitan Opera House[1] and Old Met,[2] was an opera house located at 1411 Broadway in Manhattan, New York City. Opened in 1883 and demolished in 1967, it was the first home of the Metropolitan Opera. At first, the founders hoped to make the venue less stuffy than the Astor Place Opera House, but they failed at that almost immediately.

We all have an idea of what the Christmas story is about – a complex baggage that we bring because each of us, based on what religion you were brought up with and traditions, you have all these things that are coming to the show already. This is a look at the story of the birth of Jesus in a way that’s really unexpected. The text that is chosen, the Spanish text, is not what you’d think to put in. They force you to think about all kinds of different things,” said conductor Marin Alsop. The Met Opera Chorus sounded rich and grounded in their polyphonic layers.

Gelb saw these issues as crucial for an organization which is dependent on private financing. The immediate post-Bing era saw a continuing addition of African-Americans to the roster of leading artists. Kathleen Battle, who in 1977 made her Met debut as the Shepherd in Wagner's Tannhäuser, became an important star in lyric soprano roles. Bass-baritone Simon Estes began a prominent Met career with his 1982 debut as Hermann, also in Tannhäuser. His immediate successor, the former Met bass Herbert Witherspoon, died of a heart attack barely six weeks into his term of office.[37][38][39] This opened the way for the Canadian tenor and former Met artist Edward Johnson to be appointed general manager.

Architecturally, the Italian Opera House looked akin to a small White House. It was built by Venetian-American Lorenzo de Ponte, who was a Roman Catholic priest and librettist for Mozart. He emigrated to America in the late 1820s, became the first professor of Italian literature at Columbia University, and founded the Italian opera house in 1833, at the age of 84. In the seven decades of its Saturday broadcasts, the Met has been introduced by the voices of only four permanent announcers. Milton Cross served from the inaugural 1931 broadcast until his death in 1975. He was succeeded by Peter Allen, who served for 29 years, through the 2003–04 season.

The Academy of Music was located on 14th Street and Irving Place and catered to wealthy New Yorkers, who were migrating uptown. The Corporation for the Academy of Music was created by a former New York Congressman by the name of Moses Grinnell, who sold $1,000 shares to wealthy New Yorkers, which got each of them a box in the opera house and a seat on the board of directors. The construction cost of the building at the time was upwards of about $400,000. The Astor Place Opera House debuted on November 22, 1847 with a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Ernani, which was very well-received and very well-reviewed. Verdi’s operas, and five other operas will have their American debuts at the Astor Place Opera House. The opera house will however become infamous in New York City history because of the riots that took place there, one of the deadliest in New York City history.

The Academy of Music faced an existential crisis with the rise of the nouveau riche in 1870s New York. The new captains of industry—from oil, rail, and shipping like the Vanderbilts and the Morgans wanted boxes at the Academy of Music, but there simply were not enough boxes for them. Instead of waiting endlessly for their turn, 25 captains of industry decided to form a new opera house, to be called the Metropolitan Opera House. Palmo’s Opera House was located on Chambers Street, between Broadway and Centre Street.

Within a year, the theater began catering to a new entertainment craze — motion pictures — by showing silent movies as well as vaudeville. The next day, the San Bernardino Daily Sun applauded how Maude’s star performance appeared to not disappoint anyone. During the days leading up to the big event, The San Bernardino Daily Sun raved about Adams upcoming performance. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Nov. 11, 1872, Adams began her four-decade career in 1872 at 9 months old, appearing on stage in her mother’s arms. She soon became one of the most successful stars of the “Old West,” second only to Lotta Crabtree.

The Met’s award-winning series of live movie theater transmissions continues this season with an extraordinary lineup of exciting new productions and classic repertory favorites. In 1940, ownership of the opera house shifted from the wealthy families who occupied the theater's boxes to the non-profit Metropolitan Opera Association. At this time the last major change to the auditorium's interior was completed.

Part one features a lush landscape of tropical beauty, imagining what the Divine might look like was the driving inspiration for this setting. The Italian Opera House and Palmo’s Opera House (below) were the two first purpose-built opera houses, meaning, designed and used specifically for opera. Prior to that, there were other venues used for opera, which included Castle Clinton and Niblo’s Garden.

His collaborator on Carmen was Ludovic Halévy (1834–1908), the nephew of composer Jacques Fromental Halévy (creator of the opera La Juive and Bizet’s father-in-law). The libretto is based on a novella by Prosper Mérimée (1803–1870), a French dramatist, historian, and archaeologist. Hänsel und Gretel was the first complete opera broadcast from the Met on Christmas Day 1931. Regular Saturday afternoon live broadcasts quickly made the Met a permanent presence in communities throughout the United States and Canada.

But, we are also capable of utterly horrific acts of destruction, like the slaying of children. If you are watching the news right now, we are living in that moment of creative acts of generosity and also people being capable of doing the most devastating things to the most innocent. When I think about why I want to come to the theater and why I want to come to opera, it’s because I want to reckon with that. This is why it’s time for ‘El Niño’ right now,” said Lileana Blain-Cruz.

Upcoming Performances

Even so, the Old Met will face the chopping block in the mid-20th century, a story detailed in both the podcast in a previous article. The Astor Place Opera House is the first of the big purpose-built opera houses and one of the most famous of the lost opera houses. As its name suggests, it was located at Astor Place, on the wedge of land bounded by Lafayette Street, East 8th Street and St. Mark’s Place. The Astor Place Opera House was conceived by a man by the name of Edward Frey, an impresario who managed the opera house during its entire, short-lived history. New York City’s lost opera houses are having their fifteen minutes of fame, thanks to the HBO show, The Gilded Age, which brought their dramatic histories to life in the most recent season. We dug into these former opera houses in a new extended episode of the Untapped New York podcast which weaves in clips from The Gilded Age, which were kindly provided to us by HBO.

The new series of opera on PBS was called Live from the Metropolitan Opera. This series remained on the air until the early 2000s, although the live broadcasts gave way to taped performances and in 1988 the title was changed to The Metropolitan Opera Presents. Dozens of televised performances were broadcast during the life of the series including an historic complete telecast of Wagner's Ring Cycle in 1989. In 2007 another Met television series debuted on PBS, Great Performances at the Met. This series airs repeat showings of the high-definition video performances produced for the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD cinema series.

If you lived in this area during the early 20th century, you didn’t need to travel far to see the great stars of the theatrical world. The theme is accompanied by a dress code — this year, it’s “The Garden of Time.” The theme and dress code are often interpreted ... But it’s the carpet itself that draws the world’s eyes, with the 400-strong guest list the subject of rabid speculation until the last minute — a collection of luminaries that arguably makes for the highest celebrity wattage-per-square-foot of any party in the world.

The opera house was built by mountain man-turned civic leader James W. Waters and his partner, Herman Brinkmeyer, as an investment in 1882. The beautiful red brick edifice with white facade topped by a golden eagle was known throughout the country for presenting top quality shows and concerts. Director Lileana Blain-Cruz’s dedication to building her production around interpreting the body is what makes “El Niño” timeless and so very urgent as an art form to evolve what opera has been, is, and will be to come. Her intelligently founded team of creatives took this production to the new heights that Met Opera dreams about. There was also a Baroque two-dimensional staging mixed with Afro-Caribbean painting influences that made “El Niño” feel romantic and very intimate for such a large stage as the Met.

Anthony Davis’s groundbreaking and influential opera, which premiered in 1986, arrives at the Met at long last. Theater luminary and Tony-nominated director of Slave Play Robert O’Hara oversees a potent new staging that imagines Malcolm as an Everyman whose story transcends time and space. An exceptional cast of breakout artists and young Met stars enliven the operatic retelling of the civil rights leader’s life. Kazem Abdullah conducts the newly revised score, which provides a layered, jazz-inflected setting for the esteemed writer Thulani Davis’s libretto.

Rosario Castellano’s poem “Memorial de Tlatelolco” is where Part two climaxes, however the lead up to this point must be described first. The libretto is adapted by Peter Sellars and John Adams from poems by Rosario Castellanos, Gabriela Mistral, Hildegard von Bingen, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Rubén Darío, Vicente Huidobro, Martin Luther, and texts from the King James Bible, The Wakefield Mystery Plays and gnostic gospels. This vast spectrum of interpretation creates the body of “El Niño,” resonating a rare fecundity that outweighs efforts of the mind and instead speaks directly to the heart. Discover the city’s most unique and surprising places and events for the curious mind.

FM broadcasts were added in the 1950s, transmitted to stations via telephone lines. Starting with the 1973–74 season, all broadcasts were offered in FM stereo. Satellite technology later allowed uniformly excellent broadcast sound to be sent live worldwide.

Jennifer Pyron covers a wide range of opera performances and performers in the New York Opera scene. You are changed when you leave the theater after experiencing one of his works. This is what great art is to me. ‘El Niño’ is a piece that has so many different levels, as we all come to it with our own pre-judgement.

Johnson served the company for the next 15 years, guiding the Met through the remaining years of the depression and the World War II era. Toscanini served as the Met's principal conductor (but with no official title) from 1908 to 1915, leading the company in performances of Verdi, Wagner and others that set standards for the company for decades to come. The Viennese composer Gustav Mahler also was a Met conductor during Gatti-Casazza's first two seasons and in later years conductors Tullio Serafin and Artur Bodanzky led the company in the Italian and German repertories respectively.

Opera singer and director Ira Siff has for several years been the commentator along with Juntwait or Heath. Beginning in 1898, the Metropolitan Opera company of singers and musicians undertook a six-week tour of American cities following its season in New York. These annual spring tours brought the company and its stars to cities throughout the U.S., most of which had no opera company of their own. The On Stage at the Met gala, which takes place on the magnificent stage at the opera house in New York, will feature a black-tie dinner, dancing, and performances by extraordinary Met artists.

Longtime San Bernardino resident Janet Miles, who died in 2008 at age 107, recalled in her memoirs (published by the San Bernardino Historical and Pioneer Society in 1994) there were box seats on the north and south walls with red velvet curtains at the rear. Birdie Bohan and Edith Ulrich were the pianists, Ernest De Soto, the violinist, and Mr. Parsons played the drums. National companies on tour introduced both grand and light opera performances. Entering the museum, guests walk past what is usually an impossibly enormous flower arrangement in the lobby, with perhaps an orchestra playing nearby, and over to cocktails. To 8 p.m., followed by dinner, but the most famous — or those who plan to make the biggest entrance — sometimes come (fashionably) later. Soprano Julia Bullock’s voice blossomed as she described the story of her discovery in “Hail Mary, Gracious!

Unofficially, it’s the party of the year, the Oscars of the East Coast and “an A.T.M. for the Met” (the last according to the publicist Paul Wilmot). Consider that last year’s event raised almost $22 million, while the Met’s Art & Artists Gala raised $4.4 million. Even Moses’s supporters, and there are many, who argue that his take-no-prisoners vision was necessary and ultimately for the good might fairly ask, “Where did all those people go? ” Indeed, there is no point in this documentary when it appears like an independent biography of the Met building but rather like something that could comfortably be discussed in the Dress Circle Lounge at intermission. An early Wallace K. Harrison design for the new opera house at Lincoln Center.

According to Sun columnist Earl E. Buie, in one of his “They Tell Me” columns in 1958, the Opera House’s seating capacity was between 1,200 and 1,400. If you’re in New York, you can also join fans across the street, behind barricades, on Fifth Avenue or even further east on Madison. And the AP will have a livestream of departures from the Mark Hotel, where many gala guests get ready.

Best Time to Cruise the Caribbean

best time to travel to the caribbean on a cruise

Swimsuits and warm-weather clothing should top your Caribbean cruise packing list, but don't forget the sunscreen. The sun is stronger than you might expect in this part of the world, and you can easily burn during a long day at the beach if you don't apply and reapply plenty of sunscreen. Hats, sunglasses, moisture-wicking athletic clothing and your favorite cover-ups and sundresses are all must-pack items.

Caribbean Weather January Through March

The Greater Antilles refers to the bigger islands in the Caribbean, including Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Cuba, the Cayman Islands and Hispaniola, which includes Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Call at tiny Nevis during the first week of July and you’ll come across a gathering of celebrity chefs, here for the annual Mango Festival. Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, is regarded as second in the world only to the festivities in Rio de Janeiro. Finally, Semana Santa, the week before Easter, is the biggest annual holiday in the Dominican Republic, with parades in every town. Travelers don't tend to spend much time in Belize City itself, but it's a great jumping-off point for all Belize has to offer.

When to book a Caribbean cruise

Furthermore, temperatures are also ideal during this time and are a great mix of mild and comfortable conditions that can make way for a range of opportunities to explore. Book an early shoulder season cruise in May to take advantage of the best weather with fewer crowds. Explore Fort Amsterdam, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Willemstad, Curacao, then shop the vibrant open-air markets and sample the Dutch take on waffles. One of the highlights of taking a cruise to the Caribbean during the holidays is celebrating with Celebrity Cruises on board.

Caribbean Cruise Destinations

So, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced water sports enthusiast, be sure to pack your swimsuit and dive into the endless adventures awaiting you. Although cruises around the holidays tend to be more expensive, they provide excellent opportunities to enjoy holiday festivities away from home. Instead of spending your winter break shoveling snow, why not enjoy a week or two at sea sipping margaritas poolside? If you do plan to cruise over the holiday break in December, make sure that you book your cruise early. Booking early will ensure that you get your pick of the best stateroom categories on the ship. Make sure you also reserve specialty restaurants and shore excursions early, too.

Don’t forget the bug spray either, as high humidity and rain typically mean there are more mosquitoes, too. Aside from the great weather, low pricing is another reason to choose a Caribbean cruise during these months. Foodies in particular will find that each island has its own unique flavors (and loves to celebrate them).

Coast -- make Western Caribbean cruises a popular choice for first-time cruisers. Whether you’re looking to spend a few days exploring the beaches, snorkeling and diving, or shopping, you’ll find it in the Southern Caribbean. Beyond the colonial influences of each island, their landscapes and their shore excursions offered are as varied as they get. You don’t have to do a lot of research to find the right Southern Caribbean itinerary, as the vast majority of U.S.-based cruise lines offer them. Perhaps the most important thing to know when planning to cruise the Southern Caribbean is that December through April is peak season. Also, summers are warmer, though there aren't huge seasonal temperature fluctuations.

The Eastern Caribbean islands include such awesome vacation destinations as the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Tortola and St. Lucia. So, take some to contemplate what it is that you want out of your cruise. It’s the very purpose of your cruise that determines how important the two factors below are. I also recommend that all passengers bring a passport on their Caribbean sailing.

What Are the Worst Months to Cruise the Caribbean?.

Posted: Tue, 02 Jan 2024 08:00:00 GMT [source]

The weather may be more humid during these months, with the possibility of early storms passing through from the beginning of June, but this is still a good time to visit. The Caribbean weather is mid-to-upper 80s and June is one of the wettest months in the islands. In general, September and October are considered the worst months to cruise the Caribbean, as it is peak Hurricane Season. A Caribbean cruise vacation conjures up images of swaying palm trees, sun-warmed beaches, aqua waves, and frosty tropical drinks. The months of June through August are a great time to plan a family cruise to The Caribbean.

Spring in the Caribbean is a great time to swim, stroll gardens, enjoy paddleboarding, windsurfing, swimming, and other outdoor activities. Some of the most popular destinations and activities in the Western Caribbean are listed below for you to consider. The Western Caribbean is an ideal spot for a getaway any time of the year with temperatures that seldom vary from highs in the 80s to lows in the 70s. The Western Caribbean variety of itinerary options also lets repeat cruisers enjoy the area again and again while still discovering new places. Explore the scenic wonder of navigating the Panama Canal and Gatun Lake, explore Aruba and Half Moon Cay for a double dose of excitement, and luxuriate on the blushing beaches of Bonaire.

For something a little different, try SeaDream Yacht Club for a super-small ship that feels like a private yacht, complete with an emphasis on alfresco recreation and dining. Star Clippers appeals to sailing enthusiasts with its masted ships, simple entertainment and emphasis on water sports. You'll be hard-pressed to find a cruise line that does not sail to the Caribbean at least for a few months a year. The big-ship lines will station multiple ships in this region year-round, with additional ships swinging by during the colder months. Carnival is a widely celebrated festival in the Caribbean, with each island having its own unique version of the event. This vibrant and colorful festival features parades, music, dancing, and elaborate costumes.

The Caribbean is blessed with gorgeous beaches that are wonderful year-round. In the rainy season, visibility might not be so good for snorkelling off the beach, so look at snorkel excursions that take you out on a boat over one of the many reefs. While cruises sail worldwide, many travelers favor the Caribbean, and for a good reason.

The spring is a uniquely fun time to choose to visit the Caribbean, with the region’s festival season being at its peak. From Carnival in the Cayman Islands to Bacchanal in Jamaica, there are a plethora of opportunities to explore and enjoy the experiences brought about by Caribbean cultures. October, the later part of shoulder season, is also one of the best months to cruise if you’re looking for special offers.

best time to travel to the caribbean on a cruise

The farther north your departure port, the more likely you are to experience a rough ride until your ship sails south into calmer water. There's never a bad time to cruise to this giant blue fishbowl with a bazillion beaches to explore. Parents traveling with children are most likely to find summer the best time to cruise the Caribbean while other vacationers might take advantage of the smaller crowds and excellent weather in spring.

To understand the best time to enjoy a cruise in the Caribbean, you first need to know how the seasons in the region work. Essentially, this tropical climate experiences two noticeably different seasons – the dry season and the wet season. As you may have guessed, these two seasons revolve around the amount of precipitation the region experiences during different times of the year. The temperatures have dropped a few degrees from summer's heat and the chance of storms has mostly passed. Extra ships begin arriving for their winter season and prices remain low for most of the month. Back home, everyone else is busy buying turkeys and cranberries and catering to the in-laws.

Westbound crossings, in November, can be a good time to add on a few nights in a hotel before flying home. Official hurricane season is from June 1 to November 30, with September and October the most likely months for hurricanes to develop. Hurricanes are not, however, a reason to dismiss a Caribbean cruise in these months. The Caribbean is a vast region and some areas tend to be far less prone to hurricanes than others.

September and October are peak hurricane seasons, so there’s a higher chance of disruption and some ports of call may be cancelled or changed. The Caribbean is one of the world’s most popular vacation and honeymoon destinations and is celebrated for its diverse offering of cruise experiences. Whether you need a romantic retreat or a family excursion, the Caribbean offers it all. As one of the most enjoyed vacation destinations for a reason, there are a multitude of reasons for visiting this sublime location. Island weather tends to be more humid during these months, with temperatures still in the 70s and 80s range, and generally rainier. Plan on early morning beach time, fun trips to water parks, swimming with dolphins or stingrays, snorkeling, diving, and other water sports.

Beautiful Tropical Isle.

Which is the perfect way to end the fun filled evening that you just enjoyed. There is live entertainment while you are eating and then afterward you will move to the live show area. This live and loud variety show is extremely entertaining and something the whole family will enjoy. During the show they ask for volunteers and while my son wasn’t so thrilled at first that we gave him the push to be picked to go on stage afterward said he was glad he did it and that it was a ton of fun. No matter when you are visiting the Fort Lauderdale area taking a jungle queen cruise is perfect.
